Shane is a joy to watch, clearly coming out of the typecast of the wounded young man, though here, too, he mentions a gloomy past. Newcomer Pavitra Lakshmi plays the lead role alongside Shane Nigam. The chemistry between the two has worked out so much that the audience gets closer to the characters.

Shane has handled the emotional scenes very well. Basil Joseph, Amika, Aju Varghese, and Deepak Parambol are the other major names in the cast, and they actually had nothing much to offer.

The first half, which progresses well, shows the audience a love journey that doesn’t slip into clichés. But the same pace is not maintained in the second half and the viewing experience is average which slightly affects the total amount of the movie.

Most part the film is stuck in ancient story structures, ironically falling into the kind of ‘bracket’ the movie tries to go against. Shaan Rahman’s background score matches the quality of the film.

Verdict

Ullasam is another Rom-com Movie which tries hard to impress the audience, but falls flat due to poor screenplay. Even Shane Nigam’s charm couldn’t save this film! 2.5/5
