PLOT

Waseem, along with his buddies Jamshi, Vikas, Rajesh, and Sattar, enjoy picking fights for the silliest of causes; in fact, this is the core of their friendship. This also serves as a turning point for them during some of the most significant moments in their lives, such as the bride-seeing ceremony and the wedding. How does the group of pals, whose egos can flare up at a moment’s notice, respond when another group enters the battlefield soon before Waseem’s wedding to vlogger Beepathu, ostensibly with the goal of burying the hatchet?

Performance

Wazim’s swagger and playful undertones are expertly captured by Tovino Thomas. With Kalyani Priyadarshan, it was essentially the same. They both did a really decent job of carrying those personas with a certain degree of confidence, which was more of a task than an acting one.

Performance

Reji, the police officer, uses less of his often wacky tone, which was a smart change by Shine Tom Chacko. After this film, Lukman’s career will undoubtedly experience a huge uptick because he was able to carve out a niche for himself. Adhri Joe, Austin Dan, and Swathi Das Prabhu were entertaining as Wazim’s pals, especially on that road trip.

Direction / Performance

The story of the movie Thallumaala is broken up into several segments and has a nonlinear structure. Rahman employs this format of the story to show the viewer a parallel vision of the protagonist’s present and history. This also guarantees that neither half of the movie loses momentum.

Direction / Performance

The script was excellently written by Ashraf Hamza and Muhsin Parari. The script is packed with characters, backstories, and flashbacks. Of course, not everyone enjoys Thallumala. The film is experimental. You can either take pleasure in it or realize that it is something admirable but not really your style.

Direction / Performance

This is a demonstration by Khalid Rahman and his regular colleagues that they are also capable of producing elaborate shows. The cinematography in a song-and-action-filled movie is crucial, and Jimshi Khalid makes it a visual pleasure. The art team made sure that every frame, whether it be of a fish market or the inside of a truck, was a kaleidoscope of color. The music of Vishnu Vijay also contributes to the film’s fashionable element.

VERDICT

Tovino’s Thallumaala is a mass-market comedy aimed at Youth.  With ingredients like Rap, Mappilla Pattu, and some cleverly choreographed Fight sequences this is a pure Entertainer from Khalid Rahman! 3/5
