The movie takes us through the journey of Nambi's love for rocketry, his struggles across various stages of his life, and his unmatched love for the country. Along with all of this, there obviously is, at the center of it all, the accusation that he had to deal with for years, which eventually became a major roadblock in his life.

Plot

Performance

Madhavan as Nambi Narayanan is easily one of the best Performance as actor . The hard work he has put in to portray Nambi with perfection is evident, be it putting on weight or getting the facial hair and hairdo correct, nothing looks caricaturish.

Performance

Another artist who shines out in the film is Simran, who plays Nambi’s better half, Meena. Her d-glam look, silence, aggression and pain is applaudable. Among the supporting actors, Sam Mohan’s portrayal of fellow scientist Unni grabs your attention.

Performance

Lastly, Suriya in Tamil Version (Shah Rukh Khan in Hindi Version) is excellent in a special appearance. Their presence elevates the film to the next level.

Direction/ Technical Side

The first half ends on an interesting note with how Nambi Narayanan along with Vikram Sarabhai and other scientists like Abdul Kalam spearheaded India’s space research and the obstacles they faced in their pursuit. The second half surprises with too many emotions. The transition of the film from a science lecture to a human drama is commendable.

Direction/ Technical Side

The Movie has been shot across eight countries, has engaging visuals and the credit for that goes to cinematographer Sirsha Ray. Sam CS’ BGM doesn’t have that much impact and the editing of Bijit Bala is could have been more crispy especially in the first half.

Verdict

R Madhavan’s directorial debut is not an ordinary bio-pic, he has given his Heart & Soul for making this film backed by intense performance from the lead. The audience is sure to leave the cinema hall with a sense of patriotism! 4/5
