Gist of the Story
Sathyanathan, a furniture company owner, settles a dispute with his neighbor to access his home. His habitual slip-ups lead to his arrest, and his life is transformed by his incarceration and its effects.
Detailed Plot
Dileep portrays the lead character in the film Voice of Sathyanathan, wherein he embarks on a journey with Soosan (Veena Nandakumar) to a secluded town, immersing himself in a series of transformative experiences. One notable peculiarity of Sathyanathan is his tendency to experience a boomerang effect when discussing certain topics. This stems from his innate inability to effectively express his true intentions, leading to significant complications. Amidst the celebrations of his birthday, Sathyanathan innocently mentions the name of a local musician called Tabla Varkey (Siddique), but the manner in which he communicates his sentiment deviates from the norm. This unwittingly triggers a rift between Varkey and Sathyanathan, who were once harmonious neighbors. To exacerbate matters further, Varkey’s property intersects with the road leading to Sathyanathan’s abode, prompting him to construct a substantial wall blocking the passage. Ultimately, Sathyanathan finds himself embroiled in a grave predicament when he falsely accuses the panchayat president in the midst of these turbulent events. Regrettably, due to a misunderstanding, the police misidentify the assumed culprit as none other than the “Indian President” who happened to be visiting Kerala at the time. Consequently, Sathyanathan languishes behind bars until the President concludes his visit and departs the country. Strikingly, a parallel incident occurs when Sathyanathan undertakes a business trip to Mumbai. Coincidentally, the President also happens to be in Mumbai during the same period and becomes entangled in a similar predicament, resulting in their shared detention. These diverse episodes from the film beautifully showcase the myriad challenges and dilemmas encountered by Sathyanathan throughout his tumultuous journey.
Artistes’ Performances
Dileep performed admirably as the titular Sathyanathan in those hilarious scenes. With his impeccable comedic timing and natural charm, Dileep managed to captivate the audience’s attention throughout the entire movie. One of the highlights of the film is the stellar performances by the entire cast. Joju George shines in the role of a prisoner awaiting his fate, accused of committing multiple murders. His intensity and portrayal of a character haunted by guilt elevate the poignant scenes in the movie. But Siddique, who is excellent as Tabla Varkey, steals the show in Voice of Satyanathan. Jagapathi Babu, Makarand Deshpande, and Anupam Kher are perfectly cast, adding intrigue to the narrative. Veena Nandakumar, as Sathyanathan’s wife, and Sminu Sijo also deliver commendable performances, despite limited screen time for the female stars.
Direction / Technical Side
Voice of Sathyanathan, directed by Raffi and starring Dileep in the lead role, marks the actor’s return to the big screen after a long break. This family entertainer showcases Dileep’s comedic prowess, bringing back the slapstick humor and comic mannerisms that made him a favorite among audiences. While the film attempts to combine dark comedy and human drama, it falls short of fully capitalizing on its potential. The movie sets the stage for a perfect family entertainer, combining slapstick humor with a touch of drama. Raffi, known for his family-friendly themes, ensures that the film keeps the audience engaged throughout.
The voice of Sathyanathan is different from new-gen films made today. Raffi appears to have updated and re-released his classic comedy films to appeal to family audiences which could have been avoided. Film explores Sathyanathan’s journey as he navigates the consequences of his viral rant and the mistaken identity that leads to his association with dangerous criminals. The director, Raffi, skillfully weaves together comedic moments with moments of redemption and self-discovery. The film’s comedic moments are enhanced by the clever use of one-liners. While some jokes fall flat, the majority of them hit the mark, eliciting laughter from the audience. The humor, combined with Dileep’s impeccable comic timing and mannerisms, adds an extra layer of entertainment to the movie. It is a testament to Dileep’s talent that he can effortlessly deliver funny dialogue, making his character of Sathyanathan endearing and relatable.
Verdict;
“Voice of Sathyanathan” is a comedy film that combines elements of redemption and human drama. While it falls short of fully capitalizing on its potential, the film is an entertaining watch, thanks to Dileep’s comedic talent and the strong performances of the supporting cast, especially Joju & Siddique. With its memorable one-liners, “Voice of Sathyanathan” is a good-watch for fans of Dileep and those looking for a light-hearted family entertainer.
