Gist of the Story

Unexpectedly, two ex-lovers revive their passion. One of them feels they were destined to be together even though they are both married to other people.

Detailed Plot

Gautham (Jai), who lives in peace in Chennai with his wife Vandhana (Sshivada) and their small daughter Aarthi (Vridhi), must travel to Mangaluru for a few days to attend to some business. He meets his ex-girlfriend Aaranya (Aishwarya Rajesh) on the train and they talk fondly about their time in college together. When it’s time for Gautham to head back to Chennai, he advises Aaranya to cease seeing him and to treat any chance encounters with him as if they were complete strangers. With significantly improved character, Gautham visits his family in Chennai and starts to show more compassion and provide a helping hand with her housework. Aaranya visits her husband Amzath in Chennai a few days later and they start fighting as soon as she gets back. She endures all the beatings and humiliation, but eventually, she loses it and decides to leave her husband. She resolves to call Gautham, breaking their agreement not to see each other, as soon as she remembers him, whose eyes she saw love in Mangaluru. How will they resolve the situation? Would they be able to move on from their past and start a new life?

Artistes’ Performances

Aishwarya’s performance as a simple spouse who yearns for love after experiencing abuse from her husband, Jai’s impeccable representation of a family-loving cheerful husband who develops emotions for his ex, and Sshivada’s dignified portrayal of a housewife who equally excels at her job lift a plot that has loose ends. Although Aishwarya Rajesh’s character initially comes off as annoying, as you watch the movie more, you come to appreciate her suffering as well.

Direction / Technical Side

Theera Kadhal is a movie that explores the concept of rekindled love in an effort to elicit feelings. A good look into the lives of the three major characters is provided by the director Rohin and writer GR Surendranath’s excellent exploration of human emotions in this storyline. The movie does have some moments that remind us of the people we miss in reality, even though the plot is not entirely original. There are a few wonderful moments in the latter portion that either make you chuckle or hit the emotional mark just perfectly, but what really makes the movie succeed is the clarity in characterization. Through the creation of awkward circumstances and intriguing conversation, director Rohin succeeds in keeping our attention during the second half. He also gradually makes us aware of the kinds of issues that can arise from these relationships through confrontations that aren’t overly dramatic.

Unfortunately, the plot is overly drawn out to the point that we feel that the movie is a little bit long despite its lower running time. Gautham, the protagonist of the novel, experiences a realistic and expected problem. The music of Siddhu Kumar is excellent, and the composer supports his wonderful songs with much greater BGM. The film’s technical aspects, such as the clean editing by GK Prasanna and the camerawork by Ravi Varma Elangovan, are impressive.

Verdict; Theera Kadhal is a movie that explores the concept of rekindled love in an effort to elicit feelings. Director Rohin ‘s exploration of human emotions is successful, but the thin plot is overly drawn out and the conflict Gautham goes through is predictable. Above Average!
