Looks like a delight for fans of Rajinikanth. The upcoming movie’s title and teaser were revealed on the megastar’s birthday, December 12. Rajinikanth has moved his focus to the much awaited film directed by TJ Gnanavel following the success of “Jailer.” Superstar Rajinikanth’s 170th movie is called Vettaiyan, Lyca Productions said on Tuesday. On the eve of Rajinikanth’s 73rd birthday, the production company released a teaser for the film. “It’s finally over! The #Thalaivar170 title, VETTAIYAN, is now available. on Thalaivar’s special day, unleashing his strength, flair, and swagger!” X said in a post by Lyca Productions.
The film’s creators unveiled the title along with a brief teaser, which begins with Rajinikanth reading a book that has a picture of Subhas Chandra Bose. He is seen wielding a lathi in another shot, which has sparked rumors that the actor is portraying a college lecturer in the movie. He’s moved to holding a gun before we make that decision. Thus, the mystery surrounding the nature of the movie and his role remains. Similar to Jailer, Vettaiyan has a stellar cast of Indian celebrities, including Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faassil, Rana Daggubati, and Amitabh Bachchan. Dushera Vijayan, who earlier starred in Sarpatta Parambarai and Natchathiram Nagargiradhu directed by Pa Ranjith, will also feature in Vettaiyan.
Based on the trailer, it appears like Rajini will reprise his role as a police officer. It will be fascinating to see how TJ Gananvel writes a police officer character if the Superstar is really playing one. In the critically acclaimed film Jai Bhim, which starred Suriya and marked Gnanavel’s directorial debut, the issue of police abuse against Adivasi people was examined. Anirudh Ravichander has been signed on to compose the soundtrack for the film, which Subaskaran will produce. One of Rajinikanth’s next movies is an untitled project he is working on alongside Lokesh Kanagaraj and Lal Salaam, with his daughter.
