Gist of the Story
The focus of the film is a dead male body that the police refer to as “Pretham” (ghost). The plot centers on mysterious dead bodies that vanish after being buried in low-lying portions of the Ernakulam district because there are no crematoriums there.
Detailed Plot
A police officer named Sebastian, who has an inflated ego, is introduced as the movie’s main character. Since he enjoys recounting tales of his adventures with criminals, he has earned the moniker Super Sebastian. When he deals with an unknown male body and is caught up in a procedural, personal, and emotional maze, Inspector Sebastian is the main subject of the movie. He misplaces the corpse, which sets off a chain of events that includes both his personal issues and procedural errors. Because there are no crematoriums in the Ernakulam district, the movie is about unidentifiable dead bodies that disappear after being buried there. Prior to the arrival of the deceased man’s relatives to identify him, will Sebastian be capable of organizing the chaos?
Artistes’ Performances
Alexander Prashanth, who has played numerous brief but memorable character roles, understood the role of Sebastian and was able to convincingly portray all of the character’s nuances. He gives a portrayal that flits between the roles of a heroic cop and a regular guy with ease. Jagadish commands attention as a clumsy, irritated police officer who makes so much of a mess that Sebastien’s head spins. Sebastian gets more screen time than Darshana Rajendran. But, the filmmaker offers her character a unique twist.
Direction / Technical Side
According to director Krishand and screenwriter Ajith Haridas, significant filmmakers haven’t apparently examined this theme before. Investigative thriller, black comedy, and horror are just a few of the genres that are explored throughout the movie. Purusha Pretham depicts the humor in the bleak lives of people from different societal groups and under dire circumstances. It’s a humorous look at the absurdity of life and human behavior. Krishand didn’t really attempt to concentrate on any one track of the tale in either of his previous films, Purush Pretham or the other. His tendency to delve into side stories without actually losing sight of the main plot was what gave his movies a distinctive feel. Its distinction from other thrillers and whodunits is what makes it unique. In Purusha Pretham, the employment and living circumstances of the police rank and file are depicted in detail, including their way of life, the psychological stress they experience, and the haughtiness of senior police officials who take advantage of every chance to pull rank.
Krishand, who is now serving as DOP, is in charge of the camera. For the film’s suspense, the creators made extensive use of gloomy imagery. The editing work of Suhail Backer deserves special appreciation. This movie’s editing is fantastic; it provides a ton of information that allows us to fill in the blanks and get a sense of how real police reports seem.
Verdict; Through the portrayals of the grim lifestyles of people from various societal categories and in difficult situations, Purusha Pretham finds humor. The absurdity of existence and human conduct is humorously examined by the director Krishand. Overall; the film is enjoyable to watch due to the cast’s dynamic performances.
