Gist of the Story

When an OCD-afflicted young man reads two true stories, he sets out to find their conclusions. On the way, he encounters Shubha, and they set off together.

Plot

The main character of Nitham Oru Vaanam is a young man named Arjun (Ashok Selvan), who battles OCD and subsequently experiences rejection from his fiancée. He begins seeing a therapist, and she advises that he read one of her books. There are two stories in this book where Arjun imagines himself as Veera (Ashok Selvan), who falls in love with Meenakshi (Shivathmika), and the second story is similarly about Prabha (Ashok Selvan), and Mathi (Aparna Balamurali). Arjun must, at all costs, overcome his despair and discover happiness and optimism. He encounters Shubatra on his quest for happiness (Ritu Varma). When the same incident from his past happens, Arjun tells her the same thing he told his ex-fiance, who dumped him for another man, but all she does is shrug her shoulders and the argument goes on as usual. It is now up to Arjun to embrace this as well as the voyage with her. The story’s main conflict is what happens next.

Performance

Ashok Selvan, who portrays a variety of personalities in this love drama, is wholly responsible for this travelogue, if we can call it that. He portrays each persona differently, down to his body language and speech, and he does an admirable job of pulling it off. In fact, all of the actors did such an incredible job, you’ll love every single role. The actress that plays Mathi, Aparna Balamurali, is quite endearing. She excels in her role and does so with ease. Ritu Varma plays Ashok Selvan’s much-needed traveling companion. Ritu Varma has a lovely appearance and performs her duties professionally and quietly.

Direction / Technical Side

The movie “Nitham Oru Vaanam” is a feel-good film created by director Ra. Karthik with the goal of uplifting viewers from all backgrounds. You really hope Kollywood would offer us more heroines like these because of how intricately written the female characters are and how well they are all acted. The journal’s second story—about the romance and struggles of Prabha and Madhi—is what really holds the reader’s attention. The first half’s sense of familiarity, which is brought on by sequences that make you think of classic movies from the past, is a little depressing. This movie is about how deeply a person may love and the wounds that can remain after realizing that same love no longer exists. Vidhu’s cinematography is excellent in terms of technical skill. In a beautiful way, he has caught the natural beauty of several Indian locales. The songs by Gopi Sundar are enjoyable to listen to, while Tharan Kumar’s background music has improved the settings.

Verdict; Nitham Oru Vaanam serves as a reminder to let go of negativity, choose happiness over unhappiness, and make positive changes in your life. Ashok Selvan plays a range of characters, and he does a commendable job of pulling it off. Overall, despite a few flaws, the movie is worth seeing for the feel-good message.
