Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, and actor Mohanlal reunited for the courtroom drama Neru, nearly three years after the phenomenal success of Drishyam 2. The official trailer for Neru was released by the film’s creators two weeks before it opens, and it promises to be a powerful experience. In the courtroom drama Neeru, Mohanlal plays Vijayamohan, a lawyer who takes on a case after taking a few years off from practicing law.
The opening scene of the 146-second teaser features a squad of officers investigating a crime at the Thumba police station in Thiruvananthapuram. The promotional film highlights that the circumstances have caused great grief to all parties concerned, even if it doesn’t go into great depth regarding the case. We are introduced to public prosecutor lawyer Vijayamohan as the case’s trial gets underway. Even though Vijayamohan has taken a long break from practicing law, he nonetheless agrees to take the case because people in his immediate vicinity want him to, even though he had said, “I am not fit for this case.” With “a court in Kerala continuing its proceedings into the night,” the promo movie ends on a high note, highlighting the case’s significance as the state watches an extraordinary event. Priyamani, Anaswara Rajan, Jagadish, and Siddique play important parts in the movie as well.
The screenplay for the movie was written by Jeethu Joseph and Santhi Mayadevi. Photographic work by Satheesh Kurup. Lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar, music by Vishnu Shyam, art direction by Bogdan, editing by VS Vinayak. On December 21, the movie will be released in theaters. Vazhoor Jose is the PRO.
