Gist of the Story

The movie explores the ubiquitous problem of fake news and how damaging it can be to a person’s life. It effectively emphasises the important issue of how the media, a crucial part of society, can stray from moral standards, giving rise to a ruthless mentality.

Detailed Plot

Dr. Amala Sriram, a well-known pediatric doctor, is introduced at the beginning of “Live” as the target of an unidentified sender who is sending her lewd images. She is wed to businessman Sriram. Because they both hold opposing views on society, their relationship is strained. Amala desires to engage in service, whereas Sriram is only concerned with making money. She is employed by a Kochi government hospital. The next person is Anna, who wants to become a doctor. Amala is on her side and supporting her while she studies to pass the entrance examinations. The plot advances as a result of an unfortunate event that occurs in Anna’s life. Anna is brought into police custody after being falsely charged with participating in a prostitution ring. The media scrutiny and legal proceedings that follow this occurrence are remarkably similar to what we witness today. Amala has been helping Anna and her grandfather, with whom Anna shares a home, through this catastrophe. Anna is also receiving assistance from Amala’s buddy Nikhila, a physician and media friend. The main theme of the plot is fake news, which is reported by internet media without verification in order to gain views. The main focus of the film is how Anna, Amala, and their companions deal with the fake news industry.

Artistes’ Performances

Despite being a good fit for the role of Dr. Amala, Mamta Mohandas falls short due to awkwardly delivered lines and an apparent lack of confidence in or comprehension of the character. Priya also gives credibility to her persona through little facial emotion and body language. Shine Tom Chacko’s act seemed to be an outgrowth of his current, purposefully loud “interview persona.” As Anna’s grandfather, Jayarajan Kozhikode plays a significant role in the picture. Also diminished is the complexity of Soubin’s character, which is reduced to that of a complaining husband.

Direction / Technical Side

Live has an ensemble cast and is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker VK Prakash. It is produced by Darrpan Bangejaa and Nitin Kumar. Film Live addresses fake news, a problem that has affected both celebrities and everyday people alike. The movie’s captivating first half captivates you and gets you thinking about what it may be like to fall for fake news and perhaps destroy it. The seriousness and intensity of the first half, however, are not adequately carried over into the second. The movie deviates from its intended direction in an unexpected way. Additionally, weak performances lessen the overall impression. The movie deals with a timely matter that, if well-presented, may have exposed media strategies, raised awareness of the negative effects of these unethical practices, and examined solutions to the problem. However, due to weak storytelling that lacks substance, VK Prakash and the movie’s screenwriter S Suresh Babu waste this chance.

The backstory tale of Anna and even Sam John didn’t have much of an impact because the movie concentrates primarily on denouncing the media and fake news. You can guess what will happen in the movie’s second half, when it transforms into a revenge thriller. It seems rather sloppy how the writer created drama and included all sociopolitical themes in it.

Verdict; “Live” fails to understand its ultimate purpose despite striving to address a topic that is vital to society. The movie doesn’t seem to pay essential attention to detail, especially when it comes to how the character arcs are developed. Wasted Opportunity!
