Gist of the Story
The story of the movie centers on Kuriachan’s conflict with Kerala Police’s Joseph Chandy, a high-ranking official. The rivalry began when Joseph Chandy began to demolish Kuriachan in order to feed his ego and imprisoned Kuruvachan as a result. The story of retaliation begins when Kuriachan gets released from jail.
Plot
The movie is set in the late 1990s and centers on the life of Kaduvakunnel Kuriachan, a young, wealthy rubber planter who doesn’t mind breaking the law and social norms in order to uphold what he thinks is good. He offered Inspector General Joseph Chandy, a respected member of Kuriachan’s parish, unsolicited advice, which wounded the former’s ego. This sparked a fight between the two, in which each tried to take what was most important to them, and it snowballed into an all-out conflict involving the government apparatus.
Performance
After the 2012 release of Simhasanam, Kaduva is the second film that Prithviraj Sukumaran has worked on with filmmaker Shaji Kailas. Prithviraj is performing admirably, as always. Additionally, the hero typically only speaks when delivering jokes that his devoted admirers will like. With a part that has enough substance to carry it, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi excels in the role of the antagonist and does make for a suitable villain placed against Prithviraj. Samyuktha Menon, Arjun Ashokan, Baiju Santosh, and Kalabhavan Shajohn all perform their supporting roles admirably despite having little screen time.
Direction/Technical Side
Kaduva is without a doubt director Shaji Kailas’ most fulfilling piece of work since his previous hits. Shaji Kailas is known for crafting mass-market films, and he did a pretty respectable job with Kaduva. Highlights of the movie are the three action sequences with Kanal Kannan and Mafia Sasi, particularly the opening scene in the jail. The movie is taken to a higher level by the cutting-edge action scenes and dialogue. Jakes Bejoy’s music was appropriate for this kind of genre. The director once again showed that he is one of the finest at creating action-packed commercial comedies with wide-angle shots and close-up images. The film’s real antagonist is predictable, but the creators still manage to surprise us with unexpected turns that add to the suspense.
Verdict; Shaji Kailas, the director, once again shown that he is a master at using close-up and wide-angle shots to produce commercial films that are jam-packed with action. Kaduva is a complete One-Man show of Prithviraj, strictly for Mass Movie Lovers!
