Gist of the Story
Sudhi and Madhu are police officers in a tiny wireless police station perched atop a hill. They learn that during a particularly intense monsoon, pieces of a woman’s body were scattered around Elaveezhapoonchira. Will they discover the solution?
Plot
The main plot of the film revolves around a local radio station called Ila Veezha Poonchira located at an altitude of over 3000 feet above sea level and adjacent to Kottayam and Idukki. The film follows the lives of his three police officers working in this remote area and the investigation of similar cases. The story progresses slowly and changes to an exciting mood with intermissions. Madhu (Soubin Shahir), Sudhi (Sudhi Koppa) and Venkayam (Jude Antony), these cops fight wind and lightning every day in his Ilavesaponchilla. Working shifts at the Shadow of Realization radio station, they fear being struck by lightning that unexpectedly reaches the top of that lonely hill. One day, news broke that a severed woman’s hand was found nearby, along with other body parts found in various places. An investigation is underway and Madhu is under the scanner. Whether he is the perpetrator and why the police suspect him is the rest of the story.
Performance
Soubin faced harsh criticism for his lackluster performances in Jack and Jill and CBI 5, but his comeback film has a superb performance from him. Once again, a performer most known for his humorous parts demonstrates that he can very easily carry a film in which he must play a strong character. Additionally, Sudhi Kopa performs admirably. Even if he just appears on screen for a little period of time, Jude Antony’s portrayal of his Venkayam persona will win the hearts of viewers. The story’s recurring characters, both large and tiny, all contribute to the film’s realism.
Direction/Technical Side
You are unsure of the plot’s direction as the first half of the film centers on a picturesque location, a police officer, and some visitors. Movies in the criminal category keep the audience guessing from start to finish. Despite the diverse subject matter, a strong script allowed me to finish the story in two hours. Shahi Kabir Malayalam debuts in the director’s shirt after presenting the best police dramas, such as Nayat and Joseph. With its theme and method of presentation, the director was able to differentiate his first film. His editing by Kiran Das and background music by Anil Johnson bring out the best in the movie. The cinematography of Manesh Madhavan beautifully depicts the beauty of the vegetation, warmth, wind, rain, snow, and the shifting face of night. The movie, however, moves a little too slowly. To prevent the audience from missing the pleasure of such a suspense movie, the first half may have been a little more sharp.
Verdict; The director was able to distinguish his first film by using its theme and presentational style. Elaveezhapoonchira is a slow-burning thriller by Shahi Kabir, and Soubin and Team give amazing performances! One time watch recommended!
