Plot; Don follows Chakaravarthi’s (Sivakarthikeyan’s) life from his teenage years to his early 30s, with college life accounting for 99% of the narrative. The story follows Chakaravarthi as he looks for his passion in life as well as how his father and principal, Boominathan (SJ Suryah and Samuthirakani, respectively), conduct in a villainous manner. The main plot is around which of the three won and how Chakaravarthi’s personal life developed at college.
Performances; Sivakarthikeyan is the perfect candidate for the task, selling the educational portions, and it is his truthful presentation in the end (the actual equals increase the likelihood of success) that really makes it shine. In addition to Sivakarthikeyan, SJ Suryah captures our attention with his imaginative portrayal of Boominathan. He has performed similarly to how he did in his previous performances in Maanaadu and Nenjam Marappathillai. Samuthirakani, Priyanka, Sivaangi, Vijay, Bala Saravanan, and Aadhira stand out among other entertainers for communicating the exact message that is needed. Samuthirakani puts on a powerful performance, much as his 7G Rainbow Colony father did, and he does so during the peak section as well.
Direction/Technical Side; The movie has been packaged by Cibi Chakravarthi in a likable manner for the marketplace, and intriguingly, she has inserted various references from current pop culture. Don’s college-related scenes are very entertaining, and filmmaker Cibi deliberately creates several scenes that are truly intriguing. Particularly the second part is a good emotional roller coaster. There is no looking back once the movie picks up at the halfway point, and filmmaker Cibi creates riveting scenes one after the other. The film’s background score by Anirudh Ravichandran serves as its backbone, and the songs are equally excellent. Nagooran’s editing is highly proficient and precise.
Verdict; Cibi Chakravarthi has packaged the film appealingly for the box office while intriguingly incorporating a number of references from current pop culture. Overall, Don is a well made entertainer. Go for it!
