Gist of the Story

An accident that results in the birth of a child causes an estranged couple to split up, as told by Dada.

Detailed Plot

Manikandan (Kavin) is a youthful, irresponsible college student who has no regard for the future. Sindhu (Aparna Das), whom he loves, one day tells him that she is pregnant. Sindhu wants to retain the child, whilst he wants to terminate it. They ultimately agree with her decision, but Mani’s carelessness forces Sindhu to leave their child with Manikandan and flee from him. He is compelled to raise Adithya by himself. The difficulties he faces in rearing Adithya are the subject of the movie, which also shows how his life improves. What comes next is a touching story about a father and son’s journey despite all the obstacles.

Artistes’ Performances

In this comprehensive family comedy with a healthy dosage of humor, Kavin performs admirably. He portrays the role so convincingly that he starts to take ownership of it. He especially brings tears to his admirers’ eyes during passionate love scenes and heartbreaking hand-to-mouth crying situations. Dada has a second pillar in the form of Aparna Das, who, despite her little screen time, delighted the audience. She matches Kavin’s performance move for move with a polished, admirable one. The counters of VTV Ganesh work, and he too receives a beautifully crafted poignant moment. In the second half, Pradeep Antony’s character gives the audience a fantastic journey. K Bhagyaraj and Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran’s involvement in the scenario is justified because it is so profound. The youngster is very adorable, and he has lots of thoughtful and endearing moments that make the viewer become obsessed with him.

Direction / Technical Side

Ganesh K. Babu wrote the screenplay for the movie Dada, which Ambeth Kumar is directing and producing under the Olympia Movies brand. In Tamil cinema today, romantic feel-good dramas are a common occurrence. One of the most challenging tasks can be made more difficult by improperly balancing intense emotions with comedy. However, when a director is successful by doing so, there is no better weapon to maintain spectator interest throughout. One such movie with the proper emotional undertones is Kavin’s Dada. The performances of Kavin and Aparna Das carry the movie amid these mediocre scenes. Dada had an excellent first half, which concludes with a surprise just before the break. The second half is also interesting, but it takes a long time to impart a few unnecessary viewpoints due to the flow. The clever writing makes up for the predictable plot, which doesn’t seem to be a major flaw. The sound design by Jen Martin and the visuals by Ezhil Arasu are both excellent.

Verdict; There is no better tool to keep viewers interested the entire time than a director who masterfully balances deep emotions with humor. Dada is one of these films with the right emotional undertones. Although the plot is predictable, the clever writing makes it feel like less of a flaw. Kavin’s mature performance is one of the film’s key highlights.
