Gist of the Story

Thajudheen and Benny’s friendship is destroyed by a small disagreement, turning them into enemies. Thajudheen goes to great lengths to establish his honesty but inadvertently causes more harm to his dear ones.

Detailed Plot

The plot centres on a little misunderstanding between Thaju (Soubin), who is a close friend, and Benny, who is a neighbour (played by Binu Pappu). Kunji Malu’s spouse Thaju resides in his wife’s home. Thaju’s friend and neighbour is Benny. Gracy, Benny’s mother, is upset that Thaju and his buddy Ajippan broke into her house and used her son’s scooter and other possessions (Jaya Kurup). Benny fears his mother, and his spouse Saleena (Nikhila Vimal) also laments this. Benny’s scooter is listed for sale in the meantime. But after it encounters a minor accident, the buyer declines to buy after noticing a scratch. Given that they used the two-wheeler on the engagement day, Thaju’s family is to blame, according to Benny’s mother. Benny and Thaju become estranged as a result of this scratch. Thaju must find money to pay for the wedding while his daughter, who has pneumonia, is in the hospital. Thaju’s pursuit of the person or people who caused the disaster is the central theme of the narrative. Theju and Benny’s friendship connections in Ayalvaashi are changed as a result of that incident, as we discover.

Artistes’ Performances

Soubin Shahir’s performance felt much more genuine and subtle after a while. The plot gains further depth through the character’s financial difficulties and Soubin’s excellent portrayal of Thaju. The ultimate definition of humour is embodied by Gokulan’s character Ajippan in the film. He is utter pandemonium, despite his good intentions. Throughout the entire film, he gives the impression that he is aiding Soubin’s character, but the audience laughs at his string of erroneous decisions. A respectable performance is given by Binu Pappu throughout the film, and his sequences with his mom are very entertaining to see. Theju’s better half was perfectly cast as Lijomol Jose. Nikhila Vimal was acting in the role as expected and did good.

Direction / Technical Side

With a length of around 2 hours, director Irshad makes the narrative straightforward and uncomplicated. The miscommunication between the pals takes up the majority of the first half of the film. The movie examines the masculine ego’s vulnerability, but the audience might have expected a more dramatic portrayal of the subject. Although the film makes an effort to give the climax a comic and surprising element, the execution in general falls below expectations.

The script’s flaw is that it relies heavily on a thin plot. If the script can keep it fascinating, following a single thread in a movie—in this case, the scratch on the scooter—is not at all a bad notion. This is not accomplished by Ayalvaashi’s script, which loses the audience due to its numerous loopholes, diversions, and forgettable incidents. The movie makes an effort to examine the effects of a bruised ego, but the execution falls short, leaving several sections of the film feeling lacklustre and not living up to their full potential. Sajith Purushan’s cinematography fits the scene. The music by Jakes Bejoy is among the best.

Verdict ; The premise of Ayalvaashi is incredibly weak, but with some little trimming and more robust character growth for the lead character, the story could have been much more engaging. Soubin’s sincere performance is the only thing preventing this movie from becoming a tedious experience. Ayalvaashi is a film that, overall, is just fairly engaging.
