Detailed Plot

In the Indian Army, Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, also referred to as Patty (Hrithik Roshan), is a superb fighter pilot; his teammate is Squadron Leader Minni (Deepika Padukone). Patty is burdened by the memory of a traumatic past in which he lost his fiancée, the former Air Force officer Naina Jaisingh. The Air Force squad, which consists of Patty and Minni, is led by Group Captain Rakesh Singh, also known as Rocky (Anil Kapoor), in reaction to the Pulwama Attack, which was planned by terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammed. The terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Azhar Akhtar (Rishab Sawhney) seizes control of Pakistan’s political establishment, subverting the Prime Minister and even its Army General. The plot develops as Rocky leads the Air Force in opposing Azhar Akhtar’s Jihadi objective. Patty’s heroic and patriotic zeal is a recurring motif in the Air Force’s response to the planned danger.

Artistes’ Performances

When it comes to acting, Hrithik Roshan is a natural; in his role as Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, he really inhabits the role and gives a fantastic performance. The actor leaves a lasting impression with Fighter, from his brilliant speech delivery to his expressive gaze. Not only does Deepika have a fantastic connection with Hrithik, but she also excels in the poignant passages as Meenal Rathore. As Rocky, Anil Kapoor is a great fit and gives a standout performance. In their roles as Bash and Taj, Akshay and Karan give their all.

Direction / Technical Side

In the patriotic action thriller Fighter, Hrithik Roshan plays Patty; Deepika Padukone plays Mini, Patty’s romantic interest and fellow fighter pilot; and Anil Kapoor plays Rocky, Patty’s commander and mentor. The director of the movie is Siddharth Anand, who has a reputation for making action movies. Drawing inspiration from the Top Gun film series, the movie has some amazing aerial action sequences enhanced by outstanding special effects, soundtrack, and cinematography. In addition, there are several heartwarming and funny scenes in the movie, particularly in the initial part when Roshan and Padukone’s connection is clear.

The visual effects are a major part of the movie, and they work well. The way the stunts are executed and some of the storyline lines may bring to mind the Top Gun series in some shots, but the writers also heavily Indianize the story by introducing references to patriarchy and gender equality. Patty’s loneliness and broodering tendencies are explained, along with the characters’ friendship, during the early part of the novel.

It’s not without its shortcomings, though. Slow and erratic pacing complement the poor and nonsensical narrative. In an attempt to strike a balance between comedy, drama, and fantasy, the movie falls short of producing a compelling story. Due of the audience’s inability to relate to the protagonists or their hardships, the movie also lacks emotional resonance and effect. Since Patty’s answers to his issues are so easy and ridiculous, the movie likewise loses its sense of logic and reality. Moreover, the movie adds a magical realism component and a surprise cameo, both of which clash with the overall tone and subject matter. Poor character development and scripting are further issues with the movie. Propaganda and overzealous patriotism also detract from the movie’s enjoyment and weigh it down.

Verdict;

Technically, Fighter, which draws inspiration, features some incredible airborne action scenes that are accentuated by superb special effects, music, and cinematography. But, overall Fighter is an underwhelming movie all around that has a strong beginning but loses momentum and focus in the second part. The movie falls short of its potential since it isn’t amusing or interesting enough. The movie might not please the majority of viewers, but it might please certain fans of Roshan and Anand.
