Gist of the Story
Best buddies that make a life off of theft. When they attempt to rob a scientist, one of them is caught in one of the scientist’s experimental experiments, which turns him into a woman.
Detailed Plot
In this story, we meet Sridhar (Aadhi), who goes on a journey to seek help from his childhood friend Kalyan (Yogi Babu) to solve his money problems. But things get really funny when Sridhar discovers that Kalyan is actually a professional thief. Surprisingly, they find themselves caught up in a dangerous mission to help a well-known criminal get a dangerous chip from a scientist. The story takes an exciting turn when an experiment in the scientist’s lab causes Kalyan to transform into a cute girl (played by Hansika). This transformation leads to a series of chaotic events that move the story forward. Amongst all the laughter, the main question remains: Can Sridhar overcome his financial troubles and get the money he desperately needs? And can they find the scientist and change Kalyan back to his original form?
Artistes’ Performances
To keep the movie interesting and enjoyable, Aadhi Pinnisetty and Yogi Babu work effectively together early on. With Hansika needing to mimic Yogi Babu’s body language, the scenes where Yogi Babu transforms into Hansika are particularly entertaining. Hansika deserves praise for performing well in a number of scenes. Additionally entertaining are Ravi Mariya as Agni Kunju and Robo Shankar as Samadhanam.
Direction / Technical Side
To the filmmaker Manoj Damodharan’s credit, he develops several plot points that give room for comedians to tell genuinely entertaining gags. Since there isn’t much to laugh at in this first half, Partner doesn’t offer much in the way of plot development. The movie only becomes funnier after Hansika transforms into Yogi Babu since the second half of the movie is full of comical scenes that make viewers giggle. One of the main characters’ experience of a sudden gender change adds an intriguing layer to the narrative and creates opportunities for heart-pounding scenes among the ensuing pandemonium. The director, Manoj Damodaran, falls short of totally engrossing the viewer in the universe he imagined by failing to weave engrossing moments. Unfortunately, the impact is lacklustre despite the potential for chaos and humour. Although the pre-intermission scenes have less humour, the scenes leading up to the finale and the lead actors’ solid performances help to save the movie to some extent. The dialogue in the movie is quite disappointing.
The Santhosh Dhayanidhi soundtrack does not distract from the proceedings, and the visuals are decent.If serious efforts had been made to write terrific comedy, Partner might have worked out beautifully. Manoj makes a sincere effort to make Partner a fun-filled experience, and I tried my hardest to chuckle at the jokes. While some of them do land, the majority are noisy and nearly cacophonous in nature.
Verdict;
Overall, Partner has its moments of laughter, thanks to lead pairs performance and a few well-timed jokes. However, it fails to deliver a consistently entertaining experience due to its reliance on loud humor and a predictable storyline. The jokes often rely on slapstick humor and crude innuendos, which may not appeal to all audiences.
