Gist of the Story

The film follows Mathachan, a hunter, and his son Pappachan, a farmer and jeep driver. Pappachan, a coward, tries to make himself a hero by creating epic tales.

Detailed Plot

Pappachan, the protagonist of the tale, continually seeks approval from others and fights to uphold his father Mathachan’s tradition. Pappachan is a coward, unlike his valiant and well-respected father, but he makes up for it by fabricating stories of bravery in an effort to present himself as a hero. Pappachan has tried hard, but he’s never been able to gain the respect he wants, and his attempts have always failed, earning him the reputation of being a constant braggart. All of his attempts to hunt down a wild buffalo fail miserably, despite his frequent assurances that he will accomplish so someday. The plot of the movie revolves around an exciting occurrence in which Pappachan finally becomes involved in a case involving the slaughter of a wild bison, giving him the attention he has always craved. What we observe in Pappachan Olivilanu is how that incident alters everything for many individuals.

Artistes’ Performances

Saiju Kurup gives a respectable performance, but his portrayal of the character Pappachan feels like a mashup of other recent roles he has taken on. In any case, His portrayal highlights the comic aspects and nuanced aspects of the character. Despite receiving little screen time, Vijayaraghavan excels once more. Srindaa felt comfortable in her recurring part. As Pappachan’s ex-girlfriend, Darshana Sudarshan performed admirably.

Direction / Technical Side

“Pappachan Olivilaanu,” a film by Sinto Sunny with Saiju Kurup playing the protagonist. Even though the movie’s premise was so shallow, a deeper look shows that it had the potential to be an enjoyable comedy. The film revolves around the quirky and lovable character of Pappachan, played by a talented actor known for his impeccable comic timing. Pappachan, a middle-aged man with a heart of gold, finds himself in a series of hilarious and absurd situations, making for an entertaining and light-hearted cinematic experience. It is based in a community with recognizable individuals from everyday situations and centers around a prominent figure. Pappachan Olivilanu is a sincere and engaging family show that combines comedy, drama, and a hint of rural life. With a large cast of people and humorous aspects, the plot stays plain and uncomplicated.

The movie spends a lot of time delving into the major incidents, notably outlining the circumstances surrounding Pappachan’s decision to go into hiding. Because of this, the first half of the film centers on a concept that may not be absolutely crucial for the overall storyline. The choice to position the instigating incident close to the intermission had a negative impact on the movie since it resulted in an excessively long first half devoid of memorable moments or laughter. Unfortunately, hopes for an interesting second half are crushed since the plot meanders aimlessly. The movie’s second half continues in the same vein without picking up speed and fails to reach any noteworthy conclusions. Additionally, the pacing of the film suffers during this portion, further contributing to the lack of engagement. Scenes feel elongated, without adding meaningful depth or advancing the plot. Consequently, viewers may find themselves growing restless and disinterested as the story fails to gain traction.

Verdict:

Despite the shallow premise, “Pappachan Olivilaanu” had the potential to be an enjoyable comedy. Similarly, the film’s screenplay is filled with witty dialogues and clever one-liners. But, the plot suffers from meandering aimlessly, with no noteworthy conclusions reached in the second half. Overall, despite its initial potential, Pappachan Olivilaanu ultimately falls short in delivering a captivating storyline, with a second half that fails to live up to expectations.
