Gist of the Story
Arulnithi is a young man who is furious. He has a smart best friend named Santhosh Prathap. Their village is heavily influenced by caste politics; as a result, things turn sour and Santhosh Prathap is killed.
Detailed Plot
In the film Kazhuvethi Moorkkan, Moorkkan (Arulnithi Tamilarasu) and Bhoominathan (Santhosh Prathap) are two characters who, while belonging to different castes, become friends as they grow up. Bhoomi is kind, wise, and modest while Moorkkan is rude and belligerent and comes from a higher caste. In Moorkkan and Bhoomi’s village, casteism is pervasive, and residents from higher castes forbid their kids from playing or interacting with those from lower castes. However, Moorkkan values Bhoomi as a close friend and defends him if someone tries to hurt him. As they get older, their friendship grows stronger, and Bhoomi begins to strive for the betterment of others in his town. In order to impress his party leaders, the film’s ambitious politician (Rajasimman) calls a large gathering of his caste’s local members. Bhoomi is against the posting of political signs in public spaces because she believes that doing so could cause conflict between castes. As a result, the politician and Moorkkan engage in a significant conflict in which Moorkkan triumphs after manipulating others to set friends against one another. The movie is about a politician who uses psychological manipulation to set up rivalries between friends and how Moorkkan defeats him.
Artistes’ Performances
First and foremost, Kazhuvethi Moorkkan excels at casting. Numerous performers, including Arulnithi, Santhosh Pratap, Munishkanth, and others, have demonstrated their prowess. Arulnithi did a good job; he gave her first romantic scene a calm, clean performance, and she was a strong presence in the combat scenes. Dushara Vijayan continues to dazzle in a substantial character that receives a lot of screen time in the opening half. The protagonist and the one who moves the plot ahead is Santhosh Prathap. Santhosh Pratap gives a standout performance as an activist for education in a culture where there are social injustices.
Direction / Technical Side
The introduction of Arulnithi’s character as the irate man and the subsequent character development make up the first half of the movie, which is decent. The romantic scenes are a mixture of amusing cat-and-mouse games and uncomfortable situations. Even the first-half fillers are watchable, and the movie never gets dull. The movie shifts into several settings in the second half and jams in a tonne of action scenes, wrath, twists, and a startling ending with fairly dubious justification. The movie’s second half, which is the stronger of the two, makes the whole thing more interesting to watch. On the negative side, the movie’s writing only occasionally clicked. There were too many fillers in the scenes and the tale, which felt dated. Because the screenplay wasn’t original, it was predictable. The lead character doesn’t have a decent arc, even though some secondary characters made a positive impression. If Moorkkan had developed into a strong leader, that would have been encouraging.
The film’s technical qualities are respectable and aid the story well. The background music by D Imman intensifies a range of feelings. Cinematography that makes a strong impression by expertly choosing camera angles for select key sequences is likewise excellent. There were some good edit table cuts, but the overall runtime might have been sharper by eliminating the lags in both half. Although sometimes over the top, stunt sequences add the much-needed oomph.
Verdict; The first half of the film is passable, featuring entertaining cat-and-mouse games and odd circumstances. With action scenes, rage, twists, and a shocking conclusion, the second half is stronger. On the downside; the plot is predictable, and the main character doesn’t have a strong arc.
