Gist of the Story
The film tells the stories of five women and a transgender from various social backgrounds, and it highlights the intense pressure they experience on a daily basis as a result of their unaltered bodies.
Detailed Plot
The story takes place in Ernakulam and has a large number of compromised ladies who are somehow tied to one another. It’s interesting to note that for these women, their breasts are increasingly a barrier. Each of Shruthi’s six women is introduced with her name and bust size. Playing women of various ages, backgrounds, and sizes who are going through various body-related crises are Ramya Nambeesan, Zarin Shihab, Ashwathy B, Anarkali Marikar, Krishna Kurup, and Raina Radhakrishnan. One’s husband allegedly treats her differently now that she’s had a mastectomy. Another woman is concerned that because of her small stature, she may have trouble getting the job she needs. The fourth woman is queer, while still another had a pregnancy as a teenager. Other two are worried by their own forays into show business. In B 32 Muthal 44 Vare, we learn how they mustered the resolve to battle all of this and how much progress they were able to attain.
Artistes’ Performances
The six women are indeed B 32 Muthal 44 Vare’s soul. Malini, a cancer survivor, was brilliantly represented by Ramya Nambeesan in terms of her frailties and heartbreaks. The casting of Zarin Shihab as Iman caught everyone off guard, as she convincingly conveyed both the character’s fears and boldness. Excellent delivery of the dialogue was also used. After the movie’s release, everyone will be talking about Anarkali Marikar’s Ziya. The actor is amazing. Ashwathy gave a very strong performance as the maid Jaya. Nidhi was a character that, like Ziya, could have been overdone and become problematic. Nonetheless, Raina Radhakrishnan handled the rendition. Rachel was played by Krisha Kurup, who also gave a standout performance.
Direction / Technical Side
As vague as the title may be, “B 32 Muthal 44 Vare” is a clear film that follows the lives of five women and a transgender person to examine the feminine psyche and body. The episodic structure of the story’s opening chapters gives the idea that these are independent women from different social classes. But after the introductions are over, the episodes are dropped because their stories tie together so well and give the impression that these are people who have known each other for a long time rather than being forced to interact for the sake of the script. The portrayal of women’s treatment by loved ones and society at large in “B 32 Muthal 44 Vare” is real and inspirational. It is outspoken about a number of themes that are pervasive in our societies and cultures, such as gender discrimination, hostility towards women, and difficulties experienced by the queer community.
The story concludes on a pretty upbeat note by honoring sisterhood, despite the fact that the movie starts off with a melancholy tone as all the characters struggle through difficult times. Sudeep Elamon, the director of photography, deserves praise for numerous scenes. The hue tones give the characters of the women depth. The soundtrack by Sudeep Palanad elevates the movie to a new level.
Verdict; “B 32 Muthal 44 Vare” is a brave effort that addresses a lot of subjects that are ubiquitous in our society and civilizations, such as gender inequality, challenges faced by the queer population, etc. All of the lead actors have strong performances that help the movie move in the proper direction. Addressing a subject that hasn’t been frequently tackled in Malayalam films is a noteworthy effort.
