Gist of the Story
This is the tale of Jimmy and Nithya, two young people who fell in love but later parted ways. What transpires when two old flames reconnect years later in life?
Detailed Plot
The narration is by a young girl named Mariam, who also provides the title. Her older sibling is Jimmy. Jimmy (Sharafudheen) previously fell in love with Nithya but couldn’t save her (Bhavana). They love one other, but after their parents learn, their connection ends. Her and his lives are changed by the latter’s long-awaited return to town. Nithya has been married for 9 years and has a son, whereas Jimmy’s family is pushing forward with intentions for his marriage. Whether Jimmy, who is reluctant to make a firm stand about his relationship and Nithya, who is about to receive a divorce, would take the chance to be back together? The central story in the film is this.
Artistes’ Performances
In fact, Bhavana’s magnificent return to her native tongue after six long years with Ntikkakkakkoru Premandaarnnu is a breathtaking comeback. She is a charming and fearless performer. She handles the character brilliantly. Sharafudheen excels in the role of Jimmy, who is initially hesitant well about matrimonial proposals submitted by his family and who seems to find himself and recognizes his troubles when he sees Nithya again. The devout Fida and Jimmy’s bombastic father, played by Ashokan, are among the excellent supporting characters.
Direction / Technical Side
By staying away from overly loud or artificially placed interruptions, filmmaker Adhil Maimoonath Asharaf makes his first film humorous throughout. Never over the top or trying to be something that it’s not, the movie rarely goes too far. By focusing on the tiny things in life, he recounts a simple love story in an amazing way. The writer-director of the movie Ntikkakkakkoru Premandaarnu considered pursuing the Hindu-Muslim aspect, but ultimately opted against it. Even though it is a love story with many of humorous moments, it skillfully addresses some important issues like domestic abuse, child abuse, women’s empowerment, and mental health. The usage of music in Ntikkakkakkoru Premandaarnnu is typical of Indian romantic comedies. These days, there aren’t many films in this genre that are successful, but Adhil, a debut director, gets the perfect balance by not overusing the use of music. The way Ntikkakkakkoru Premondarnn is handled uses a few clichés from the genre and uses some generalizations. The movie is also missing crucial humor, which could have given it more energy.
The actors have such incredible chemistry together that they convince us that Nithya and Jimmy are a couple. The effectiveness of their coupling owes a lot to Arun Rushdie’s camerawork in addition to the excellent writing and performance involved. Paul Mathews, Nishant Ramteke, and Joker Blues collaborated to create the soundtrack, which establishes the mood for the film. The noteworthy background music was composed by Bijibal.
Verdict; Nowadays, there aren’t many successful musical romantic drama movies, but Adhil, a first-time director, strikes the perfect blend by not overusing music. Ntikkakkokkoru Premondarnn is a straightforward, beautiful love story that belongs to the feel-good genre despite being predictable to an extent.
