One Liner
Siva and Sruthi fall in love and eventually get married, but Siva is unemployed, and Sruthi ignores his efforts to look for work, which complicates their relationship.
Detailed Plot
Shruti is wed to Shiva. He is jobless whereas she is a software engineer. Till Shiva finds a respectable career, Shruti is more than willing to carry the household’s financial responsibilities. Shiva has trouble landing a job despite his qualifications and skill set. She initially feels sympathy for him, but as time goes on, she starts to mistrust his skills and gets upset with him. She still goes over and beyond though, hiring a consultant Rs 10 lakh to assist him in getting a job. But he misplaces the money, which puts him in further trouble. The crucial question is how things will eventually calm down.
Artistes’ Performances
As a couple, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Santosh Shobhan seem fantastic. In the lead parts, they both gave respectable performances. One of the film’s main strengths is the chemistry between its two leads. Santosh Shobhan developed a variety of facial expressions and was well-presented on TV. Priya Bhavani Shankar was excellent in the role of a young woman who, even before getting married, displays extreme trust in her life partner. The rest of the supporting ensemble is well-kept and does their role competently. A few scenes with Satyam Rajesh and Sapthagiri are amusing.
Direction / Technical Side
The central theme of Anil Kumar Alla’s Kalyanam Kamayeenam, is how young people in love deal with challenging situations by being faithful to one another. It is straight forward as it sounds. The storyline is only established in the initial half of Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, and the main conflict between the central pair is all that happens during the intermission. One wonders how filmmaker Anil Kumar will resolve these little but significant relationship concerns before the real drama begins in the second half. But unhappily, his style of storytelling is archaic, as evidenced by the climax’s hasty resolution and the ego battles’ resolution in a brief scene involving the heroine and her father. As the movie goes on, it becomes apparent that the plot is too weak to be really explored on a large screen, and we get the feeling that the OTT platform would have been a better fit.
Undoubtedly, the director’s effort is quite honest, yet there still seems to be a huge hole in the movie’s heart. The background score by Shravan Bharadwaj is adequate and blends well with the scenes. The music is melodic. Karthik Ghattamaneni’s cinematography is exquisite.
Verdict ; Although the director’s effort is quite sincere, there is undoubtedly something lacking from the movie’s heart. The film doesn’t have anything unique to put it here, other from the chemistry between Santosh Shobhan and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Overall, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is a tepid family drama that is lacking in emotion.
