The protagonist of the narrative is Kannayiram, a young detective who grows up to solve neighborhood misdemeanor crimes. Traumatic recollections of a tumultuous connection with his mother plague Kannayiram. He learns that his mother, who is deceased, was somehow connected to the group. He resolves to expose the group and enlists a journalist to help him track down their whereabouts. But given his lack of influence, will he be able to accomplish it?
Santhanam performs better as an actor than a comedian, which goes against the idea that his performance will be filled with humor. The fact that he was formerly a comic makes it even more impressive to see his talent as an actor. He performs an emotionally taxing job with integrity. We can see Santhanam in the movie in a brand-new light. Indhumathi Manikandan is well cast in the character of a devoted mother, but actors like Guru Somasundaram and Redin Kingsley are wasted.
An improved rendition of the original can be found in Tamil. There is a lot of potential in Agent Kannayiram, but the screenplay is crafted in such a way that it takes a while to get to the important section of the movie. The voyage there is tolerable, but it could have been better. Although there is a lot of potential in the crime, investigation, and mother angles, there aren’t many great surprises in the movie, and it gets a little tiresome after a while.
The movie continues to change and veers away from the original’s charms in order to accommodate Santhanam’s comedic style and a cast of supporting actors who fit this brand. It resembles the blending of multiple excellent concepts into one even better one. In return, you get a comedic thriller that is just about watchable but that you begin to forget as you watch it.
You will undoubtedly hear Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music right away because it has a way of hypnotizing the audience. Another excellent background soundtrack arrangement that properly complements the visuals and the story has been provided by him. While attempting to walk a tightrope between humor and crime, director Manoj Beedha has had little success. A mother-son relationship is one of the movie’s subplots, but the protagonist’s feelings aren’t something we can relate to.
The crime, investigation, and mother angles have a lot of potential, but the film doesn’t offer many noteworthy shocks. In order to suit Santhanam’s comic approach, the movie keeps changing and deviates from the original’s attractions. In the end, you have a humorous thriller that is just barely watchable. It seems like the combining of several good concepts into one.
