Gist of the Story
A tale of two young brothers who are kind to one another and who overcome hardships in life.
Plot
After their parents pass away, two siblings, Pyali and Ziah, are left in Kochi’s slums to fend for themselves. The little universe that Ziah creates for the two through his daily wage employment, which barely brings in enough to scrape out a life, ensures that Pyali does not feel like an orphan and that she lives like a princess. The two stick together to overcome the obstacles and give each other wings, even as the nasty side of the world shows up in the form of contractors wanting to take advantage of them or even child welfare workers attempting to separate them.
Performance
Barbie Sharma is a visual pleasure as the adorable Pyali, and I have to admit that her language delivery was excellent given how dramatic the script was generally. Your heart is stolen by this sweet, innocent girl. George Jacob’s portrayal of Ziya, a non-Malayali who speaks Malayalam well, is excellent for the part; he moves you to tears and provokes thought. Ambarish, who plays his pal, does a fantastic job acting and adds humor. He did a great job pulling off the unexpected cameo with a big name. Sayed and Nikola, played by Sreenivasan and Mamukoya, respectively, effectively fulfill their roles and enhance the film. In a cameo role, Unni Mukundan also exudes excellence.
Direction/Technical Side
The movie “Pyali” cannot be categorized as a kid’s movie. This movie is for everyone, including parents and instructors. Another one of those feel-good movies, Pyali benefits from strong production design and visual appeal. The production design and visual effects of the movie are important components, and those teams did an excellent job. The plot of “Pyali,” which Babita and Rin offer to the audience, merges the world of children, art, sisterly love, friendship, and street life. The engaging script prevents boredom throughout the entire film and keeps the audience interested. The general pace of the movie is a drawback.
Verdict; A sweet tale of a brother and sister that has its moments! Watchable drama from Babitha & Rinn with heartwarming performances!
